SATO Technologies Corp. and its subsidiaries (“SATO”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information through our website at www.bysato.com (the “Site”), including our newsletter, event notifications, contact form and careers page, and when you communicate with us by email or telephone. It is published in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
Qritical.ai is operated by our wholly owned subsidiary Qritical AI Inc. under its own privacy policy, available on that website.
Person in Charge of the Protection of Personal Information
Our Chief Executive Officer is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. You may contact the person in charge at info@bysato.com (subject line: “Privacy”) or by mail at the address set out under “Contact Us” below.
Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information we need for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
- Newsletter and event notifications: your email address and, if you choose to provide them, your first and last name, together with your language preference and a record of your consent.
- Contact form and correspondence: your name, email address, the subject and content of your message and any other information you choose to include when you contact us, including through our investor relations email address or telephone line.
- Job applications: the position you apply for, your name, email address, the link to your LinkedIn profile or website, the information you provide about yourself and any documents you send us, such as a CV.
- Technical information: when you visit the Site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to operate and secure the Site. The Site also stores your language preference in a cookie (see “Cookies and Third-Party Content” below).
We do not use the Site to collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not send us such information.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- send you the news releases, financial results, event invitations and other communications you have asked to receive;
- respond to your questions and requests, including investor relations inquiries;
- assess job applications and communicate with candidates;
- operate, maintain and secure the Site; and
- comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including those applicable to us as a reporting issuer.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Consent and Withdrawal
We collect, use and disclose personal information with your consent or as otherwise permitted or required by law. We send newsletters and event notifications only to people who have given express consent. Each newsletter and event notification includes an unsubscribe link, and we give effect to unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. You may withdraw your consent to other uses of your personal information at any time by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; withdrawing consent may prevent us from responding to a request or processing an application.
Service Providers and Disclosure
We share personal information only with:
- service providers that host the Site and deliver our emails and notifications, which may use personal information only to provide services to us and are required to protect it;
- our subsidiaries and professional advisers, where necessary for the purposes described above;
- regulators, courts and law enforcement authorities, where required or permitted by law; and
- a party to a proposed or completed business transaction involving SATO, such as a merger, financing or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality undertakings and applicable law.
Storage and Transfers Outside Québec
Our service providers, including our website hosting provider, may store or process personal information outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law. Before communicating personal information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, and we require our service providers to protect it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law: newsletter and notification subscriptions until you unsubscribe; contact form messages and correspondence for up to two years after our last exchange, unless a longer period is required by law; and job applications for up to twelve months after the position is filled, unless you are hired or ask us to delete your application sooner. We then securely destroy or anonymize the information.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use, disclosure or modification. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a confidentiality incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify you and the competent authorities as required by law.
Cookies and Third-Party Content
The Site uses one functional cookie to remember your language preference (English or French). We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on the Site.
Some pages display content provided by third parties, such as the share price chart supplied by TradingView, and the Site links to third-party websites and platforms, including SEDAR+, TMX Money, OTC Markets, LinkedIn, X, YouTube and media outlets. These third parties may collect information about you, including through their own cookies, in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for their practices.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal, and to withdraw your consent. Where Québec law applies, you may also ask us to cease disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink attached to your name, and to receive computerized personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format. To exercise these rights, contact the person in charge of the protection of personal information at info@bysato.com. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request and may need to verify your identity first.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another competent privacy authority, as applicable.
Children's Privacy
The Site is not intended for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe that a minor has provided personal information to us, please contact us at info@bysato.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on the Site with a new “Last updated” date and, where required by law, notify you of material changes before they take effect.
